Death of Missoula All Ages Shows?

Friday, 21 May 2010 10:46

Due to conflicts with the Union Club Bar, Walking Corpse Syndrome will not be allowed to book any more weekend all ages shows at the Union Hall.  The six piece dark metal band will finish out the three shows left on the schedule on June 5th, August 6th, and October 2nd.  We thank and appreciate the Union Hall Company for allowing us to offer a drug and alcohol free environment for people of all ages.

The Union Hall will be remembered for showcasing a variety of marginalized musical acts, free of any artistic restrictions, and introducing many punk and metal bands to world of DIY booking and show promotion.  The boxy room will also be remembered for its massive staircase, sweltering heat, and feedback, feedback, feedback.

Almost the little brother to old Jay's Upstairs, the Union Hall represented the best and worst of Missoula.  It was a place any band could book without bias.  A diverse crowd met at the music alter for every show - young and old, punk and metal, emo and goth.  There were circle pits, mosh pits, and plenty of headbanging.

Union Hall, you will be remembered fondly and buried gladly.  For all those nights every band broke their collective back hauling heavy amps up and down those stairs, we curse you.  For every night that crowds moved to the music, we thank you.

OK, so this situation begs the question: what is going to replace the "all ages" shows?
